This e-mail is one of a dozen I received asking about the flu in Panama. Roberto
Senior ChocolateWe are traveling to Panama and have some concerns about this killer flu. No one can tell me if tourists are suppose to get a shot, or where we can get that... Any idea? Thanks Uwe
Like everything else, the media has hyped it up - it is not as big deal as they make it out to be. However, caution is always a good idea, especially when traveling. My responseDear Uwe,Yes - get your flu shot before you come. The flu is effecting mostly the very elderly and small children, but no use taking chances. Our maid and her kids got it and she was sick for four days. You can get your flu shot at any clinic or hospital, but be aware, they are very busy, with long line-ups.
Roberto
PS: Bring sanitizing liquid soap and disinfectant wipes with you, and wash your hands often.
